Come Fly with Me - Laptop Table

Inspired by 1960’s futuristic aviation

Come Fly With Me is a laptop table designed to be utilised indoors by one or two people. Inspired by 1960’s futuristic aviation, the table is ergonomically proportioned for laptop usage and other small objects. It can slide underneath couches or benches. The small yet functional table size allows timber shorts to be used and not go to waste.

The brief for this assignment centred around creating a piece of public furniture that utilised short lengths of timber that otherwise would have been burnt or disposed of by sawmills. I wanted to create a laptop table that would encourage collaboration in the workplace. The twin tops comfortably fits a laptop and other objects such as a notebook, pen and coffee.

I made this prototype during second year at the Furniture Design workshop at RMIT.
